Simple Chocolate Balls

I think we all have childhood memories of chocolate balls – that delicious mix of chocolate, cream and biscuits, rolled in coconut flakes or colourful sprinkles.
And what’s the best part of all this fun? No baking required! 😄

Here’s a little secret: I love letting my kids make them. I feel they turn out even tastier that way 🤫

Ingredients:

  • 200g dark chocolate OR 300 g milk chocolate OR 400 g white chocolate
  • 250ml whipping cream
  • 250g biscuits, crushed
  • Optional: Colourful sprinkles / coconut flakes / chopped nuts

Instructions:

  • Step 1Chop the chocolate and place it in a microwave-safe bowl along with the cream.
  • Step 2Heat gently in the microwave and stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth
  • Step 3Add the crushed biscuits and mix until well combined
  • Step 4Cover the bowl with cling film, pressing the film directly onto the batter to prevent a skin from forming
  • Step 5Chill in the fridge for 1.5 to 2 hours
  • Step 6Then shape into balls with your hands (I personally like them bite-sized, but feel free to make them any size you like!)
  • Step 7If desired, roll the balls in sprinkles, coconut, or chopped nuts
  • Step 8Store the balls in an airtight container in the fridge

Notes & Tips:

  • For a vegan version, use coconut cream instead of whipping cream and choose vegan chocolate.
  • In my experience, it’s always better to double the amount (at least!).
  • You can crush the biscuits coarsely or finely – I prefer them coarse for that extra crunchy bite.
  • You can use any biscuits you want/have, though I, for myself, love using plain butter biscuits.
  • Coffee lovers can add a teaspoon of instant coffee powder when melting the chocolate and cream.
  • For an adult version add a tablespoon of your favourite liqueur to the mix.
